School Closure Update: March 22, 2020

District 7 Parents,

I wanted to give you a brief update on school closure and building access for the upcoming week.

School Closure Extended
On Friday, Governor Pritzker extended the school closure through April 7th.  Because District 7 is on spring break that week, this effectively closes the district until April 14th.

Building Access During “Stay At Home” Order
Beginning Monday March 23rd, all schools and the District Office will be closed to outside traffic except for meal pickup.  All phone calls will be forwarded to the District Office.  We will continue to answer phone calls between 9 AM and 12 PM.  We will provide further information for those parents that need to pick up home-based learning materials at the end of this week.  Every effort will be made to send all lessons digitally beginning March 30th.   Paper materials will only be made available to those families without internet access upon request.

Update on District-Provided Meals
District 7 is committed to making sure students who rely on school meals will continue to have food while schools are closed.  We will continue to provide a grab and go lunch and breakfast each day between 9 AM and 12 PM at Edwardsville High School, Glen Carbon Elementary, and Worden Elementary.  We will also continue to deliver meals to those who cannot make it to one of the three locations.  On Mondays during closure, we will have a second meal pickup time from 4 PM-7 PM at all three locations.  On these days, parents will be able to take up to five days of meals in one pickup.

We will continue to provide frequent updated communication in the coming days and weeks.

Respectfully,

Dr. Jason Henderson
