National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) Conference

It is rare that the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) Conference is held in St. Louis during the same year that the District is under a Science Curriculum Review, but the stars aligned for our teachers this year!

Edwardsville Science Committee members and grades 6-12 science teachers had the opportunity to attend this national conference, which offered the latest in science content, teaching strategy, and research to enhance and expand educator’s professional growth.

Teachers attended a two-day workshop titled “Designing Three-Dimensional Lessons and Units” which is the core of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Participants were able to deepen their understanding of three-dimensional teaching and learning by focusing on developing storylines and learning how to use their resources to support broader implementation efforts within their classrooms.
