District 7 kindergarten students recently visited the Glen Oaks Equestrian Center for our annual Barnyard Day experience, presented by Edwardsville High School’s National FFA Organization student members.
The Edwardsville High School National FFA Organization student members had the opportunity to interact with the kindergarten students as they all gathered around some of their favorite barnyard animals. Our younger students were able to ask questions of the high school students, many of whom were sharing their own animals.
This collaboration between the FFA Organization and the kindergarten staff provides cross-curricular benefits to both groups. High school students gain experience in planning and public speaking, which is excellent preparation for local and state-wide FFA competitions and conventions. Kindergarten students enjoy the hands-on connections to all areas of the curriculum including math, language arts, science, social studies, and health.
