Today, as part of Principal Appreciation Week, we recognize all of our elementary principals.  Thank you for the patience, kindness, and daily support you provide to your school families.  Students and staff know you are all amazing individuals that would do anything you can for them.  Thank you!

Principal Appreciation Week

October is a month recognized for a number of reasons, causes, etc.  Here in District 7, we would like to celebrate our building principals during Principal Appreciation Week from October 20 – 26, 2019!

We want to thank each and every one of our building principals and assistant principals for all the hard work they do each and every day to help our buildings run smoothly for students, staff, families, and community members.

Circus for Veterans

The Edwardsville High School Student Council is hosting an event called Circus for Veterans to benefit a veteran’s charity.  It will be geared toward children of all ages as well as adults.  Please see the flyer for additional information.

Reminder to Sign Up for Parent-Teacher Conferences

DON’T FORGET:

The District will again use Pick-A-Time to schedule PreK-12 parent-teacher conferences to be held from October 23-25. Like prior years, Pick-A-Time will allow parents to schedule all of their children’s parent-teacher conferences through the internet using the account from last year or by creating a new account.  Registration will end at 4:30 p.m. on October 22, 2019.

Parents without internet access may still contact their child’s building or teachers directly to set up an appointment.

1/2 Day Reminder – Friday, October 11, 2019

REMINDER: Friday, October 11, 2019 is the end of 1st quarter and a ½ day Teacher in-service.  There will no PM student attendance.

  • EHS will dismiss at 10:20 a.m.
  • Middle School will dismiss at 11:00 a.m.
  • Elementary will dismiss at 12:15 p.m.

Madison County Transition Fair

The Madison County Transition Planning Committee will host a transition fair on November 7, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Edwardsville Moose Lodge.

This transition fair is for area students and families to obtain information regarding available post-secondary services for students with special needs.  It’s never too early to plan for your child’s future!

Community Joins Forces to Share the Love of Reading with District 7 Students

A new volunteer committee of teachers, administrators and community members has formed within the Edwardsville School District with a goal of increasing District 7 children’s love of reading.  Each month, the committee will look for simple ways to show children how enjoyable reading can be and to model reading solely for enjoyment.

Teacher Institute Day Recap

During last Friday’s Teacher Institute Day,  ECUSD 7 administrators, teachers and support staff spent the morning in building-based discussions, while spending the afternoon reviewing how to identify and respond to student mental health needs.  ECUSD 7 is partnering with the CHADS Coalition for Mental Health to develop a trusted adults’ understanding of symptoms associated with depression and how to identify risk factors and warning signs of suicide.

 

Social Science Curriculum Review Update

As a kick-off for our Social Science Curriculum review, our committee members spent some time learning about what the committee entails and discussing items they would like to see addressed during the review.  Committee members also learned what is currently taught across grade levels and courses, and then began to dive into the Illinois Social Science learning standards.
